Gothic Peach: Life Insurance

It's stupid advertising actually, the real reason parent's like myself included insure our children isso that we can pay for a funeral without harassment from the funeral home who wants a payment up front and to be able to buy what we want without feeling guilty for not being able to afford a proper memorial for a child. These policies generally pay out 10 to 12k and that just so happens to be the cost of a funeral. Thinking about a child dying is awful- so I suspect the insurance companies thought it be best to not advertise children's life insurance like this... "Buy life insurance now in case your beloved child dies and you need $10k for a decent looking funeral- Momma." -Michelle

Which is exactly my point. While I realize that funerals cost a bundle, the truth is, most parents already know where to get life insurance for their kids. And most people know what life insurance is for, so it's kind of stupid to advertise it. But what I find funny is that they'll market life insurance to elderly people as "don't make your family have to scrounge to pay for your funeral costs." I find the thought of an elderly family member dying just as awful as a child.

i don't understand that too! how can your life be assured if the you only get the money if you die? that's redundant because, obviously, you won't be able to get hold of the money since you're a corpse already.. lmao!

i think they better rename it as death insurance! bwahaha! because you can use the money from the insurance for your burial fees! bwahahaha :D

Hmm.. yeah, now that I think about it, it's kind of silly. I thought that it would cover the expenses if your child got hurt or something? I dunno.

I know the commercial you're talking about and I think it is very tasteless. The only way you're going to get the money is if you die - what if I'm alive at 25 years and the coverage really does go up to $100,000? I'm pretty sure in the event of my 'untimely' death the police are bound to ask questions (if I should die after that time, that is.)

I've never really gotten the whole life insurance for kids thing either. Seems kind of morbid to me. Anyway, I'm too superstitious.
